Reality Church of Los Angeles needed an identity for their yearly Advent series and they wanted something Christmasy, but not too ~basic~. I have created many a Christmas graphic in my time, and was so pleased to hear their desire for something that pushed the boundaries of a typical church graphic. I took that opportunity to design in a more maximalist style and filled the artboard with as much as I could fit. I wanted to draw on a classic, high church, saintly vibe. Adding the gold foil was just <chef’s kiss>
Both Reality and I were so pleased with how the series came out and they asked me to create a series of seven designs for the days leading up to Christmas, called the “O Antiphons”. Each antiphon represents a different attribute of Christ reflected in scripture and is rich with symbolism. These were a dream to design.
